Dell XPS failed surface scan in diagnostics

Hello,
My Dell XPS failed surface scan in diagnostics. Dell denys its an hard drive issue. Is it or isn't it?

That makes no sense, the surface scan is a drive diagnostic, so if it failed it can't be anything except a drive failure.

Have the Dell tech you speak with explain how it's not, I'd like to hear what they say about it.
