I've posted the following in the Security Admin forum of this listserv but I was wondering if I could the following here as well ?

Does anyone have any insights/advice/recommendations on using hotel provided desktops for checking on job e-mail while on vacation. I've done so in the past, but I've always been concerned about security and keystroke logging viruses/trojans... And I've only used to check e-mail on a 3rd party desktop and never done anything of a financial nature such as check bank accounts or purchase using a credit card on such a computer; but since I've gotten more cautious and have never seen this discussed, I thought I would ask.
Thanks,
Gary

change your pass to something unlike what you normally use, once you done with the trip reset your pass to your normal.

I could tell you how to delete cookies and etc but if you are not admin on that account there is no real safe way of making sure other then changing your pass ;)

If you are really concerned about security, you might want to invest in a laptop... then you have your own computer to check email with, etc, etc... and you have more control over it's security.

Try running your app's from a PENDRIVE like Kingston Datatraveller Migo ED...read about MIGO software, or iff you already have one try a software called MOJOPACK. it will run as an OS in your usb... it has it's own reg and docu folder... so you dont have to worry. in the free side off thing you may try PortableApps... not quite secure but better than working with the apps installed in the host computer. You also have another that it's called Ceedo
