Mobo - ASUS P5NE-SLI 650i
Processor - C2D E6650 (coming soon)
Graphic Card - XFX 7600GT
PSU - Enermax Liberty 400W
RAM - 2 x 1GB Corsair DDR800 Twin 2X
HDD - Seagate 250GB SATA 3.0
+ any standard PC case and DVD ROM, excluding display, mouse and keyboard.

cost about $3600 Malaysian dollar, should be around $1100 USD

im thinking of building such system mentioned above for average gaming, only average. i know there's some unbalanced between my graphic card and my processor. some friends adviced me to tune down the processor and get a better graphic card in return. so i need some advice here. thanx.

Your friends give good advice :) You will see a much bigger gain by investing the money in the GPU over CPU unless you are doing processor intensive tasks such as encoding/editing etc. Dropping the E6650 (ive no idea about its pricing) for a E6350 or E6450 (or even E4400?) should allow you to buy a 7900gs or x1950pro with change to spare, maybe a 8800GTS 320MB on the same budget. I have no complaints about my E6300 / x1950pro combination.

I agree with your frinds. You will see much more improvment with a faster video card than cpu.UNTIL,you get to a certian point. At that time,a more powerful cpu is needed to drive the graphics in cpu intensive games. But cpu bottlenecks on ly really happen if the cpu you're using is fairly slow,or you are using a 8800 series graphics card.Anything under a 7900gtx should match well with the 6400 or AMD equivilentGoodluck.

I don't know. I beg to differ.

You're building an average gaming pc? not a top of the line. You don't know 7900gtx, etc. 7600gt is more than enough for average gaming. I'm guessing you'll be in windows doing manure work. :) You're doing 2d most of the time? If so, you don't need 7900/x1900 whatever. If you tell me what games you're playing, I can give you a more specific answer. If it's online card games, even onboard video is fine or x300/x1300/6200/7100.

The thing you can cut back on is ram. IMO, OCZ/Corsair is overrated. You can get cheaper kingston valueram & overclock only the cpu, if you o/c. You can save some money on ram & get an o/c that's faster than 6600/6700/6800.

dude atleast go with 8500gt now. or 8600gt. 7600gt is old and go with atleast 450 watts of PSU. if not 500 watts

seems theres a need to tune down my processor to get a better graphic card in return.... ok... then i'll take something like E6320 or anything close to it. I heard that mainstream 8 series such as 8600GT are not so impressive, and yet sometimes get beaten by 7600GT, so im very confused. but i think i'll wait till July or later to get a new system... if i want to get a 8800GTS and a 500W PSU means i need more money.

oh yea... akhilles.... i play CNC3 and CoH... wish i could play SupCom or FEAR since my current PC cant handle it. i never demand high graphic details... a nice gameplay is very good enough... thats why i said im just an average gamer. and i only build a new system every 4-5 years... i know it's kinda long... but hey... i don't have a goldmine or money tree at my backyard.

From the games you're playing if you get something similar to the E6400 and an 8800GTS you should be able to play Supreme Commander, FEAR etc at full details.
