I mostly use my computer for my work, but play the occasional game. I need to upgrade, but have a tight budget. I'm therefore going to go for a e4300, which I'll overclock, with decent memory and a raid0 hard drive setup (since my work involves using software that's dependent on cpu and hard drive), but want to save on the graphics side.

My current setup has a 9600pro, which is adequate for my needs, but is obviously AGP so I can't use it here. My question is: will the 7600GT 256mb outperform my current card?

There would be alot different in performance with G7600GT. Or if you have a tight budget 7300GT is enough. Just overclock it as it is highly clockable.

I don't know how high is your demand for graphic details in games... for a tight budget, 7300GT DDR3 is quite lovely.... or, save more money to get a 7600GT if you aren't in hurry.

Go with the 7600GT they are affordable nowadays. Especially 8600 & 8500 are in the corner eager to take its place.

Well, if you try to compare features especially with video stuff also, please refer to this link

Nvidia Geforce 7300GT does not support
1) inverse telecine
2)Bad Edit Correction

according to nvidia

Just giving him options depending on his budget. If he could get a 7600GT, go ahead its a good card but if he couldn't 7300GT is fine as it can overclock well.
