XP Freezes after desktop loads

When I try and boot into XP everything will load and I can move the mouse around, but the computer just locks up and I can't click anything at all. When it loads it tries to install norton antivirus which is already installed. I am dual booting vista and xp off of the same drive and Vista loads without any problems.

any help would be great

Go into msconfig and disable Norton from starting up and see if that fixes it. If it does, I'd uninstall and reinstall Norton.
