Hi, 2 questions if anyone would be so kind:

1) I'm connecting a Corsair HX 520w PSU to an MSI P965 mainboard. The PSU has both a 4 pin 12v connector and an 8 pin EPS. The board has the 8 pin socket, with a little piece of easily removable plastic covering 4 of the pins, presumably to fool-proof it for 4 pin-only connectors.

Since I have the 8 PIN EPS (and am using an E6600 dual core) I should use the 8 pin connection, and do NOTHING with the P4 12v? Is that correct?

2) The PSU came with the 6 pin (modular) PCI-e connectors, but the mainboard has a 4 pin socket for "stabilizing a graphics card," not a 6 pin. My 7300GT PCI-e card fan runs without using this, and the card advertises as not requiring an extra, dedicated power line. Is there an advantage (or danger) to running a connection from the PSU directly into this 4 pin socket?

This is my first build, and I've never done anything like this before. Thanks in advance.
