Is my motherboard dead?

Very odd problem -- last night I was playing WoW as usual, then quit and restarted whilst I went away to take care of some business. When I came back, the monitor was on 'standby', but the PC was all powered up. I tried turning it off and back on again, but it resolutely refuses to boot at all. It won't even get to the POST screen, motherboard splash screen, nothing. It gets so far as having the hard drives activate, then nothing at all.

The mystery continues! (and stats).

C2D E6600
2 gigs Corsair RAM
Nvidia Geforce 7950GT
SB Fata1lty.

As a last ditch effort, I put my (non-working) Fatal1ty card back into the PCI slot. Presto! For some reason, that was enough to make my PC work perfectly fine. Very strange.
