Hi all,
I'll try to summarize at best as I can my problem.
I bought an hp 6359ea embedded with Vista.
I'll not explain why, but it bother me.
I've soon decided to install xp.

note: there's a sata to install and the notebook has not the floppy drive.

first problem: I can't simply format and install win xp because I can't upload the .inf for sata.

solution: I've disabled the sata by bios and installed xp on (now) ide controller. something seems to work.

note: now, I would install sata driver and enable sata by bios.

second problem: if I try to install sata driver I receive an error because (and it's right) actually, it can't find the sata controller (it is turned in ide).
obviously, if I turn it in sata by bios, i receive an error because the inf is not uploaded.

note: I could work in this way? should I matter of sata either ide? no..

third problem: I THINK, since there's the wrong ccontroller installed, the chipset is not well installed and in fact on the peripherals I find:
PCI driver not known
3 base driver not known

in plus, the wireless get the list of the connection but doesn't connect!!

note:chipset is intel i945pm and sata is intel ich7.. all periperals are 82801XX..

somebody wanna help me??

observation: I know there's some wwin xp sata embedded cd on the net.. but I can't get it. There's a way to do this? remember that although I have the installation driver of intel matrix storage, it doesn't install!! so I cannot put the driver on the cd i think..

THANK YOU ALL

Lorenzo

It's also important which version of XP and its service pack level. You need to have the latest service pack level installed for SATA. Personally, I could see only the slightest difference between IDE and SATA on a real-life performance level, the most difference on transferring very large files. Sounds like you need to get the HP drivers before you can go much further on this one.
