I have a Packard Bell(yes,OLD), I only have DOS!!!! I have tried to reinstall to no avail. I get a quick glance of Windows 98 then win.com cannot be found or is corrupt. THERE IS NOTHING BUT DOS. I checked the Standard CMOS Setup and the Summary Screen says DISABLED,unable to enable and I cannot change the Boot Sequence either!!!! PLEASE HELP AS I AM AT MY WITS END.

Try booting from a CD or floppy (or if you have access to the CD in DOS, don't worry about booting from one) and copying win.com manually from the CD. If that's not possible, you'll have to reload the computer with the supplied CDs.

thanks I will try using the floppy and HOPE that works. If it doesn't well I guess it goes in to get fixed.

You may have to format it and re install windows. Win.com doesn't go missing all it's own, altho there are cases where it can get corrupted.
