... at least, not at this time.

2 gig of ddr3 - 1333 - 9, 9, 9, 24 Corsair memory from Newegg is $493. That kind of latency coupled with 3x ddr2 memory prices totally chills it for me. I was really considering buying one of those bad boys (research only!) in the mid-July time-frame. Now it looks like mid-February at the earliest...

This certainly has to be throwing a wet blanket on any new technology goodies coming from both Intel and AMD in the immediate future (it almost looks like the good ole rdram days; where is Tom, raising the bitch this time??).

DDR2 was rather expensive when it first hit the market... though I don't think it was that bad. Once yields are better and manufacturers start churning it out, prices should drop. Brand new tech is always priced at a premium... but within a few months, we should see the price for DD3 start dropping.

WOW! I'm surprised people will even spend $500 for 2 gigs of RAM!!!

Last summer, I spent $250 for 2 gigs of DDR2  . This year, I can get the same set for under $100 (after rebate)

Then again, I think the reason for that was everyone decided to upgrade since Core 2 was out (I was one of them  ).

Sidenote: Are you from the Ubuntu forums???

Price of Kingston DDR3 (at least the 1066MHz variety) dropped by almost 50% already... that's barely over 2 weeks. The 1333MHz stuff is still around the same price though... it will be a while longer before it drops.
