Screen protector?

Forum Cell Phones & Smartphones : Windows Mobile Screen protector?

When I bought my Pocket PC, it had a sheet of transparent plastic stuck
over the screen. I assumed it was there for a reason, so I left it on,
but now it's getting pretty ratty: the edges are peeling away, and it's
developed a lot of ridges and rough patches in places where I use the
stylus a lot.

So:

1. What is it actually for?
2. When it falls off (or I get sick of the rough patches messing up my
input and throw it away), do I need to get replacement?

Hi!

That's really just a protective sheet; on new devices, I leave it on till
it's cracked or scratched and then I throw it away. I'm under the illusion
that that way the screen itself is safe fron scratches a little longer. But
afterwards, when I keep the device in a case and not just stuff it in the
trouser pocket, the screen lasts next to forever (at least, longer than our
devices are in use before they need a different kind of repair).

To protect your brand new PPC while it's _in the box_. AFAIK you're
not supposed to leave it on the screen, because it's not a 'real'
screen protector. (I think the manual says something about that...)

If you don't want scratches and/or dirt on your screen, then you
better get a replacement. I've got one from Brando and am very happy
with it. I've got this one:
<http://shop.brando.com.hk/screenprotector.php>

But there's also this one:
<http://shop.brando.com.hk/ultraclearscreenprotector.php>
which is more transparent (but also more light reflection).

I got my screen protector at http://www.screenguardz.com/ and I love it.
They will also make custom protectors for any touch screen you may have (I
got some for my touchscreen tv remote). There are many different brands out
there, but I liked these -
