Ok, I had integrated graphics (6150LE) on a Vista Machine, my "Vista Experience Index) was 3.0.

I installed a nVidia 7300GS (256 megs ram) with the very newest driver from the nVidia website, reran the benchmark, and my index drops to 2.8?

Any ideas?

The Areo index did rise from 3.1 to 3.6, but the business graphcs part dropped from 3.0 to 2.8 (???)

Did you turn off your onboard video? Did you uninstall the drivers for your onboard video?

I say forget the Vista Experience tool, which is known to be seriously flawed, and bench the graphics yourself. If you see a problem then investigate. If not then it's just an error in their tool.

yes, turned off onboard video in BIos.

Windows reports full amount of RAM, so I know none is allocated to integraded video.

Also, manually delated all drivers, did fresh re-install of drivers. Windows reports latest version of driver.

If you want to benchmark your video performance, use 3dMark 05, not Vista.

That will show you a difference much closer to real-world.

Ditto to what cleeve and notherdude said. The vista experience is just a Tool, not the end all.
