My WinMe Gateway Desktop doesn't recognize the CD drives. I came home last Friday and my wife said the computer was doing some strange stuff. Neither of us are computer literate. I turned it on and the desktop icons were now very large, it went through a series of screen changes and box came up that said "SURegCreateKey Failed". I took out my system restore disc and placed it in the CD drive but the computer would not recognize it. I am not in kind of loop. I also did a safe boot (as this is the only way I can get to Start, settings, control panel etc)but it seems some aplications are not available in Safe mode. I have no idea what is wrong or what to do. HELP

Is the boot order set to boot from the CD before the hard drive in BIOS? You'll have to do that in order to boot from you restore disc.
