This may just be the easier option. My pc is infected with spyware, malware, popups, and a bunch of other sh!t.

All I ever see are dls0523pmw.exe errors, cpvfeed errors, CFG32 errors....endless popups.........the last week has been a nightmare on my pc.

So when I install, what programs should I download FIRST to prevent this from happening again. I just got a hold of Nod 2 for antivirus. What other protection do I need? Thanks for any advice

first make your nod options look like this:

nod settings [img:14c6011315]http://img387.imageshack.us/img387/256/spysweeperdf2.gif" alt="" class="imgLz frmImg " />

and make its settings like this:

SS settings

then do a full scan, once its all cleared, if you have problems with XP then do an XP repair off the XP CD.

this way you will be done in an hour or much less depending what you need to do and you don't need to setup your apps and their options all over again.

but if you don't have much apps and don't mind going thru setting them all up again then go ahead and just format, but for me I got too many apps and options to reset so I can't tell you the last time I formated ;)

In addition to SpySweeper I'd get AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy, both free. I used SpySweeper about a year ago and while it's good, no malware program catches everything. Personally, I'd do a full format. If you have that much malware, your not likely to get rid of all it given how deeply it can bury itself. I'd suggest you run the anti spyware every 2 or 3 days. Most importantly you really should watch the sites you go to or the stuff you download. If your downloading a lot of stuff, you may want to think about putting together a very inexpensive computer for the downloads. Once you know what ever it is you downloaded is clean you can always copy it to your good machine If you have kids using the machine, I'd definitely get them their own machine, I always gave them mine and put something better for myself. What could my wife say, I was doing it for the kids. :D

actually I have done tests, and comparing to other anti spyware spysweeper does catch everything, havingt spybot and adaware is pointless since spysweeper does a better job then both.
