The screen on Pocket PCs is covered by a thin film which is scanned
electrically - called a 'digitiser'. Its job is to detect the X-Y
position of the stylus when pressed gently onto it, no force should be
required to get it to register the stylus position
Needless to say it's quite fragile, and because of its thinness it's
hard to attach connectors to - they can become displaced if the device
has been abused. Is there any visible screen damage or extreme
scratching on the digitiser (screen) surface when you look at it as
you hold it on a nearly flat angle ?
If you can't get it to register the taps within a few days, it's a
dud, and without a digitiser it's next to useless. Try to press down a
little more firmly (and hold it down for about a second) just once or
twice to see if the thing registers your taps.
Also check to see if there's a thin plastic membrane - a screen
protector - which is covering the digitiser - it usually won't go
*quite* to the edges and is an after-market addition to protect the
screen from scratches. Possibly if one's there, removing it might
improve the pickup.
Hope it's not dead though - one of the hazards of eBay, "sold-as-seen"
Cheers, Neil

I had this same thing happen to me with my first PPC.
What you RAELLY need to do is tap & hold, take the
stylus, put it on the the crosshair, and hold it there until
the cross hairs move to the next calibrate position.
I almost sent back a brand-new e750 because of this
error in the hard reset dialogs, which persists through
2003SE.

He doesn't even seem to have made it to the calibration screen. Another
option is to find the reset hole and see if a reset helps. Beyond that, if
it didn't arrive with the battery removed, you might want to remove it
overnight and let the thing settle. While just removing the battery for a
while, minutes, to hours in some cases, will fully reset the device,
sometimes things are retained unless you let it sit overnight and really let
the electrons evaporate.
Hope it's not a bad screen.

Great, glad I fixed it LOL ! Was it just you weren't holding down the
tap long enough ?
