for some reason my computer will not boot without the windows disk in the drive. when i take it out it says SYSTEM BOOT DISK FAILURE when i try to boot. but when i put it back in it boots fine, and i can run windows normally. i have tried several things to fix so i dont know what else to do. any help is appreciated.

boot off your xp cd and choose "R" for repair then you will be taken to the recovery console, when you get there and you are at your root (lets say C:\) type:

fixmbr

see if that helps ;)
