Compaq presario 7000us

I got a mp3 player compatible with xp and vista that have windows media player 10 and 11. Is there any way to get it working on a compaq presario 7000us with a media player 6 or 7. I tried installing 10 and 11 but my system will not take it. Is there a way? The player is a memorex MMP8590

If it says it requires XP or Vista... then that is what is required... there isn't a workaround.
