questions on Sony LCD projection

I have the 50" Sony Grand Wega and I really like this set. It looks good
and has the feature set I wanted. I use cable and a big ntenna in the
attic. On the remote, you use the "antenna" button to switch between cable
and the antenna. For the antenna, I auto-programmed it and then hid all of
the analog channels just leaving digital. They look awesome. In my area, I
receive broadcasts from several cities. This means I get (2) ABC, (2) CBS,
(2) NBC, (2) FOX, (2) WB, and (4) PBS. I consider myself fortunate in this
regard. :-)

For cable, it is a digital cable ready set. This means a couple of things.
First of all, I do not subscribe to digital cable. Even with that, I still
receive some of the digital cables being distributed over cable including
local broadcast HD signals. This is a much smaller subset than what I
receive through my antenna. Also, it has a cablecard which eliminates the
need for a set top box from your cable provider. The upside is that
operation of the set is much simpler because you do not have to deal with
yet another peripheral. You can receive all of the premium content digital
channels without an additional box. The downside is that things like on
demand are not available because that requires a two-way device and extra
software provided only in the set-top-box from you cable company.
