You probably don't mean for me to count the video chips in my Atari 800, 800XL, and 1024ST computers.

Don't remember what was in my 386sx16 computer. The video card is probably in a storage box somewhere.

I gave my ATI VGA Wonder (massive 512 kb memory, bought it when a 486-33 was faster than the workstations my colleagues used) to my daughter, and she killed it. I ought to pop the cover off the 486-33 and see what's in it now.

Tseng Labs (wonderful cards) ET-4000, ET-6000, original Voodoo, Voodoo 3000 (if they made a 1000 or 2000, I got one of those too), Voodoo 5000, assorted early Nvidia cards (Creative, STB), Voodoo Banshee, assorted ATI's, Cirrus Logic, who knows what else (maybe 20 all told) sitting in various storage boxes. You never know...

I guess you might say I keep the old cards.

It's not like I can't throw anything away. The bad ones I pitch. The kids are murder on video cards. At least 3 (probably 4) TI 4200's, a 5900SX, a couple of ATI 9800's went that route. Memories of earlier video card failures have been blanked out. Don't know what I'll do now that I realize throwing video cards in the trash is a bad idea.

Oh, I almost forgot the S3 3d video decelerator that came with my first Windows 95 computer. Crash crash crash. Ah, the memories.

Yes, I still have the S3. You never know...
May 7, 2007 9:00:45 PM

Why is it that every time someone does something retarded, they happen to be an AMD fanboy? That's WAY too many cards for 16 months.

Anyway.. I still have:
Matrox Marvel
TNT2 32MB
voodoo 5
ti 4400
(am using) radeon 9800proSE (128 bit)
May 7, 2007 9:35:27 PM

x1650pro - sitting on a shelf, still in the box
9800pro AIW - died randomly but was a great card in it's day
fx5500 - put in my parent's computer
gf2 mx 400 - gave to friend
quad voodoo cards of some sort, still have the sli cables too

If you couldn't already tell, I'm not much of a hardcore gamer.

Yeah, I still my my Radeon 7500 and 9000Pro. I'm kept them around 'cause my HTPC still uses AGP cards. So just in case my AIW Radeon 9600XT breaks down I'll have an emergency backup.

I tried selling my 7500 a couple of years ago basically for the cost of shipping by USPS + $1; so I can buy a hotdog on the way back from the post office. No bites though.

I suppose once I build a new HTPC, I'll toss out the 7500. Then I'll pack up my current HTPC and store it away as an emergency PC.
May 7, 2007 10:24:15 PM

I still have an old Radeon 9800, although it hasn't come out of the box for several years.

lol sure it is
May 8, 2007 4:29:44 AM

I generally keep them because it isn't worth selling on ebay alot of times. Normally by the time I upgrade my card the old one is worth maybe $100, at best. Less insertion fee of a few dollars, less shipping (which never comes out right), less final value added tax, less paypal withholdings, I will be lucky net $75. With that in mind I keep some cards for use later in other builds (parents, sister, re-purposed server that just need something).

I may still have my good 'ol GeForce 3, ATI Radeon 9800 and a nVidia 6800 GT.

I've sold one or two on ebay, but I still use one or two, I forget which lol.
May 8, 2007 5:39:22 AM

I keep my system fairly up to date, normally replacing every year or so, and I sell / giveaway the superceded cards. I don't have any spare.
May 8, 2007 6:44:10 AM

I keep so much pc crap, it's too much to list. I do have to list one, tho, my ATI 9500 pro that I'm still using. I'm so outdated.

DITTO for me. Sold/am selling all of my old cards to help buy the newer ones.

Still trying to get rid of my 7600GS (AGP) and X1650 PRO (PCIE) to get me one of the following: X1950, 8600 or an hd 2600. All depends on price and performance. Haven't looked at which one I'm getting yet, waiting for the ATI cards to be released first. Prices drop and then all 3 cards will be available to compare...
May 8, 2007 7:21:51 AM

My family and friends usually get free upgrades from my old video cards.
May 8, 2007 8:27:54 AM

I still have my first gaming card a Tseng Labs ET6000 with 2.25MB of video RAM. It was fantastic for playing doom...

If I only had some...How's that X1950 treating you? I want to get one as it's better than the 8600 (from what I've seen, even if it's just a little) and cheaper here by me.
May 8, 2007 11:03:16 AM

I still have:

Voodoo 3 3000
Geforce 3 Ti 200
9600 Pro
Geforce 5700 LE (PCI no less)
7800 GT (currently using)

I just ordered a 9800 XT (replacing 9600 pro) to put into my Windows me system.

It's a sickness.

ah i love this damn card    (cheap and effective is what i would call it). Was worth the money spent on it.

gets me through my gaming needs any way (mainly FPS games like FEAR, BF etc). Cause i cant really play over 1280x1024 any way, and at that res this card playes just about every game. Obviously when games like oblivion are crancked up it complains, but its still quite playable. Atleast thats what I think. It rarely goes below 30 (with all graphic stuff set on max, but no AA or AF) any way, so im happy with it.

With most FPS games (except rainbow six vegas) generally its always over 60 fps at max settings.
So all's good.

I'm just glad to know my psu will make it. I've got a Thermaltake 420W TR2. Got a $h!tty X1650 PRO, I misread the DDR2 for DDR3. Didn't notice until it was a bit late. They don't wanna refund me so I gotta sell it and get me a better card. My 7600GS AGP was better.
May 8, 2007 11:59:10 AM

Hmmmm...
ATi 8500
Nvidia TI 4200
ATI 9800 Pro
ATI X850 Pro
ATI X1900GT
ATI X1900XT
I have not been at this as long as some others
May 8, 2007 12:01:28 PM

I tend to run various machines so having spares is useful.

At the moment I have:

3dfx voodoo 3 2000 agp and pci
3dfx voodoo 3 3000 agp
Geforce 2MX 200 32mb
Geforce 2 Pro 64mb
Geforce 4 TI 4600
Geforce 6800GT (sold to my bro)
Currently 7600GT

Maybe thinking of getting an 8800 gts 320mb this summer.

ah yeah, there is a big difference between DDR2 version and DDR3 version.
best of luck selling it off :)

Selling old cards doesn't pay-off as well as some other parts so I believe that you get your best bang for the buck by reusing them in peripheral rigs. I recycle them if possible and sell when there is no alternative. I have an old 6800 vanilla in my brother's rig, a 6800GT in my wife's rig but sold the other 6800GT this last go-round. I have the 7300GT from my wife's rig in a box for troubleshooting and rig building purposes.
May 8, 2007 12:20:45 PM

I've still got my Tseng Labs ET6000 graphics card. First card I brought purely to play games with. Played Doom really well back then. Came with 2.25MB of RAM. I still use it now and then when I test friends computers to determine if they have a faulty graphics card.
May 8, 2007 12:22:53 PM

Hmmmm, well let me put it this way:

Hi Everyone, my name is Minerva, and I have a problem...

I honestly have a problem conserning this, I have in my workroom the following: 2x PII pc's (300mhz and a 450) a PIII450, a PIII866, and 3x servers (dual PIII450, Dual PIII733, Dual PIII 800) and then my pc in my sig... Then i have the works laptop hp nc8000, 2 toshiba 2800's a hp xe3, and even a hp cpx300 (its a P1)...

As far as the rest goes, somewhere in my Garage, I still have a few 386 pc's still in full working condition with like 40mb hdd's and win31 still loaded, and even came across a XT with dos3.2 still loaded running a green mono screen, and then various boxes with old junk in them, including a few commodore64's and even an old VIC20.

Like I said, i have a problem

Nostalgia rocks! :D

I tend to store junk for a long time before having a big clear out.

Oldest I can put my hands on now days is a ATI rage 128, good solid card in its day, played x-wing\ tie fighter really well :D . Had a clear out a few years back and chucked a load of old stuff :(  including 40mb hdd's that took up two 5.25" bays in height :D  fantastic stuff.

Im actually really wishing I hadnt thrown out my old IBM XT cases :(  would have been great for comedy conversions (last one I built was a Pentium 90 in one of those old cases and that was the dogs danglies at the time).

I would also still like to get hold of an original soundblaster pro sometime for some of the old school games. Would be cool to revisit win 3.11 dos 6.22 sort of era. Im sure it wouldnt take me too long to get back to manageing the memory etc. I remember having menus set up to sort out different startup configurations for different uses.

First company I worked for still use 8" floppies

Yeah well, that;s me too :)

If you want help with the dos startup menus, let me know, the P1 laptop I mentioned earlier, I have running 6.22 and win31 specifically for that, and i have a massive boot menu with 6 main options and a few submenus too, that was the dogs bollocks!

Think you can get a soundblaster pro on ebay for about £1 plus £7 shipping. We have a Gravis ultrasound somewhere around.

My first one was like the Voodoo something I don't remember but I gave it away to other people. Donate it to whatever charity that takes it. I don't keep it since I upgrades and I don't throw it to the garbage since someone else who is less fortunate could use it.
