Lots of lag in all games

So i have a cable connection at home (Road Runner in queens) and whenever i try to play games it lags up very badly. Supreme commander and Company of heroes are the biggest offenders but i also have problems with all my steam games (CS and DoD). However, bittorrent and other media download programs run fine. Alternativly when i'm in school (SUNY Binghamton) downloading files takes longer but Games run fine. Whats up with this and what can i do 2 fix it? its realling ruining my enjoyment of multiplayer games.

are you running through a router at home? if your running through a router you could try a port foward on the ports those games run on.

there is a website www.portforward.com. it will tell you about how to port forward on your type of router and what ports your game uses. cheers!
