hi i got a problem i am trying all day now to install win xp on my new pc with no luck, oh ya and i tryed to install from 5 cds not the same V
i am geting this error:
sxs.dll syntax erro in manifest or policy file gdiplas.man on line 4
the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error
thats all it say after it get stuck for 1h haf way in to the install
any ideas how to fix it?

pc is
mb:asus p5k
ram:xms2 ddr2 800 corsic
cpu:6600
v-card:asus gtx
hd:80g and 2x250g
thats it if u have any ideas of same thing i can try plez let me know

what format option are you choosing during install? quick or regular?

hmm there is no option for quick install
only things it ask me ask where to install the f6 f2 thing at the start
and thats about it rest is like on auto

use kill disk and erase the drive and try again.

oh dam i just got what u meant in that other post
i did the regular long one few times and the fast one few times to
same problem

never use the quick option always the regular one.

try kill disk and see if that helps if not and you have tried other CD installs with the same results then its time to look at the HDD itself
