Hi, i've been trying to install vista by booting from the DVD drive (Nec ND-3540A) but after windows says "windows loading files" and then i see the blue like color background, and then an error. so booting from DVD doesn't seem to work, on this computer, i've tried it on my other computer and it booted fine.
My solution to this was to use Windows PE to install Vista. So i created a boot disk for Windows PE, booted into Windows PE and i was able to read cds and dvds. The only problem is that i couldn't read the Windows Vista DVD, but i was able to read other DVDs, like movies or something else, some DVD's didn't work but some did. Also the DVD that the drive wasn't able to read caused a blue screen error, same one that i get when i try to boot into windows vista installation interface. Now the funny thing is that The Windows Vista DVD works fine in windows xp or in Windows Vista, i'm able to access its files ect..., but not when booting.
When i booted into Windows PE (in the computer where Vista DVD was working) and tried to access the DVD drive, it accessed it but not showing the files, and only showed a readme file, so i accessed that file and it tells me that Windows PE does not have a UDF file system.
Last but not least, i tried Booting into my brothers laptop using Windows PE, it loaded fine, and when i accessed the Vista DVD, i was able to see the files.
Windows PE allows for loading drivers, so is there a UDF driver or a driver that might make the DVD drive work outside of XP or Vista? I tried looking for a NEC ND-3540A but i don't think there is any out there, there is a fireware upgrade (which i used) but that's about it.
If anyone knows anything, please help.
Thank you all in advance for any help or support.
