Ok, so I have 2 rig plans. Which would be better?

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+
2GB (2x1GB) 800mhz G.Skill
DFI Infinity nForce 570 Socket AM2
XFX nVidia GeForce 7900GS 256mb (factory OC'd)
320GB Seagate barracuda
FSP Groups 450watt PSU

or

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300
2GB (2x1GB) 667mhz A-DATA
ASUS P5B Express ATX Socket 775
Connect3D ATI Radeon x1650XT 256mb
320GB Seagate Barracuda
FSP Groups 450watt PSU

Overall, the second one. Not sure how the 7900GS stacks up against the X1650 though. The first one might actually be better for gaming if there's a difference in its favor.

I would say the Intel set, but see if you can't switch the video cards, I think the 7900GS would perform better. Or check out the Sapphire X1950XT 256mb card, its super cheap and will rape either.

Well, see, these fit in my budget of $750

aren't the x1650xt and the 7900gs about the same price?

Reply to hashbrown

The 7900GS is a better card than x1650xt, therefore rig 1 is better for gaming. Rig 2 is probably faster for all other applications. May be you can upgrade the GFX Card on rig 2 sometime in the future. Overall Rig 2 will last u longer.
