More Information

If I recall, Samsung announced their first hybrid HDDs around two months ago. I have yet to see these available for sale, and I have not seen them on any oem systems. I assume OEMs are buying up the parts to supply in their own offerings.

I thought Vista was supposed to bring support to these things. Considering the lack of anything using them despite supposedly available parts, is additional support beyond the OS that is necessary? I though I recalled something about AMD's Turion 64 X2 upgrade (hawk?) bringing hybrid HDD support.

I'm desperately needing a new notebook (P4 w/ Radeon 7500 baby!), but am holding out for hybrid hdds, led backlit screens and dx10 gpus. Altogether might mean a hefty price hike, but we'll see which of these products are really worth it...
