Windows 2003 dcpromo Question

Forum Windows 2000/NT : General Discussion Windows 2003 dcpromo Question

A quick question for someone who knows...

We recently had placed a second Windows 2003 DC at one of our off site locations in order to demote the existing one in the future since it is an old server. Well it's the future now and we mistakenly demoted the new DC instead of the old one. :pfff: :pt1cable: I know in the old days it was a big problem if you re-promoted a server without wiping it first. Is that the same with Windows 2003? Can I just re-promote the server and wait for replication or do I need to wipe the box clean before I do? We have other DC's in other sites that replicate on the same domain so it's not like it's the last DC in the domain.

Thanks!
Tim

Repromoting is fine but I assume you have this already fixed.

Just make sure to add it back into the existing forest/domain and it should pick up replication without a problem.
