Ok so I have a bunch of extra parts lying around...What do you think of this configuration.
P4 with HT, 3.0 ghz Prescott
4 GB ram,
2 260 GB hard drive
sony dvd rw drive
ASUS Mobo

Think that should be able to handle anything i throw at it (not including games)

Which OS you planning on using? The 4gb ram may be overkill. Also you may want to look at some dual/quad core chips if your looking for application performance.

XP pro will only recognize 2.xx gigs of RAM. I believe there is a crack you can use to change this but its obviously not supported by M$. Unless its 64bit, I believe it will recognize higher RAM values btu I dont work with the 64bit versions as they hose my games more often then not.

As far as a machine from spare parts goes though I think youre doing well.
