Say I have a new computer that came with Vista and I currently have a CD media for XP but not another license. Can I legally install XP over Vista? Is the Vista license backwards compatible, so to say?

Windows Vista and XP each require their own Product Key. In other words, you can legally install XP over Vista with a XP Product Key and no the Vista license is NOT backwards compatible. Is that clear enough?
