When you say "nothing happens", are you getting a message? Have you tried clicking on the key that let's you choose which drive to boot from, e.g., on my ASUS AM2 mobos it's F8, a real pain when you're trying into Safe Mode. When you first start your computer it should tell you which key. A friends older Dell requires you hit an F key, I think it's F12 but not sure, in order to boot from the Windows CD. For some reason resetting the boot order in the BIOS doesn't always work.
