New System ordered...
Asus Striker
Silver Stone TJ-09B plus 3 extra 120 mm fans
P&C PC 750
Samsung 226BW (S panel-received as gift from sister)
Core 2 Duo E6700 w/ stock cooling. May over clock to 3 or 3.2 Ghz.
BFG 8800GTX
4 Gigs of Corsair XMS2-6400 Xtreme (yes I know that my system will only "see" somewhere over 3 gigs until I goto a 64 bit OS. I am fine with that).
Two Raptor 150 hdds and one 400gig Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (no RAID at this time).
SATA Sony DVD-Rom
SATA Samsung 16x DVD/RW w/Lightscribe
Vista Ultimate 32

I will use this rig for gaming (Oblivion, Farcry, BF Vietnam, LOMAC, etc) and some work stuff (Office Apps) and of course the net.

The system I am replacing is a 4 year old 3 ghz P4, 1 gig, 6800GT, 2x36 gig Raptors.

Does anyone see any conflicts? Suggestions on improvements (keeping in mind the above is already ordered)? Tips on known issues when building with these parts?

Now I am just waiting for Fedex...

Just out of curiosity, why two Raptors?

With that set of hard drives, I'd RAID 0 the two Raptors.

I really like Raptors. I have owned them before and have never had any issues with them. As far as RAID, I am just trying to figure out a PCI Raid card (not wanting to Raid with the 680i chipset). I will eventually go Raid 0 but no big hurry.

Any suggestions on a good, easy to install PCI Raid 0 card?

Wasn't there an article in Anandtech a couple years ago that showed Raptors in RAID 0 performing relatively poorly?

There might have been. That was just my gut reaction to the hard drive setup.

I remember something about making sure that the Raid controller supports NCQ for the Raptors.

Anybody with a comment on this card?
