Problem fixing MBR

I am trying to fix the MBR first in an attempt to delete my ubuntu partitions. However, once I load the Windows XP boot disk and press R to go into the recovery console, I get some message about no hard drive drivers found and the only option is to quit. Any idea what is causing this? I can boot into XP and do everything fine there, as well as in Ubuntu. Device Manager shows no errors. Any way to fix the MBR???

Why can't you just delete the partitions from Computer Management?

You need to press F6 and load the hard drive controller drivers.
