My Aero is messing up!

Sometimes I'll be running a program that doesn't work with Aero. So then I close the program later, and I can't use the 3-D viewing of all the programs. So I right click desktop, go to personalize, and change it from Basic to Aero. I press APPLY and OK and the 3-D desktop still doesn't come up.

How do I get Aero to work back up again after using programs that don't work with it? The program specifically was a DivX video, and I already closed it.

apps like divx player and the like turn off the aero feature when in use but usually when they quit, your aero feature comes back on.

do u know if your hardware is capable of running vista with all the bells and whistles? what are your specs?

-Inteo Core 2 Duo Processor T5250(1.5 Ghz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 cache)
-NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT TurboCache(256MB Dedicated, 1024 shared)
-2 GB DDR 2
-160 GB HDD(2 HDDs)
-Can run HD-DVD
-As for resolution, it's something like 1280 x 800, I can't 100% remember though.
