I have only dealt with setting up FTP servers using filezilla so far. I was setting one up in win2003 the other day and it doesnt seem to be very secure.
I want the ftp to accessable on the web and require a user&password to be able to log into it.
It's telling me that it transmits the passwords in plain text. Which doesnt seem very secure. Am I missing something or is it really just not that safe. if thats the case i'll just install filezilla again.
I found the answer on another forum, Filezilla's forums to be exact.
Truth of the matter is windows server FTP is not very secure. The passwords get transferred in plain text.
Good enough reason for me to not bother with IIS at all. So I installed filezilla server instead which is more secure. Now it almost seems pointless to be running windows 2003... It's not doing much for me. I have a hardware raid. So I'm not even using the software raid function which could have been the only reason for using it. Maybe I'll switch it to XP Pro instead.
