I have recently bought an ASUS P5B-E (plus) mother board.
I have installed Windows XP on it already with the OS being on a RAID 0 pair of 37G Raptors.
I wanted to reinstall Windows again onto another single Maxtor drive, but when I get to the page which says press enter to install Windows or such a key to repair etc, I press enter and setup tells me I have no hard drives, yet I can boot up windows and use all the drives with no problems. :?
Does anybody know a possible reason for this :?:
Also, on my old mobo, in Windows, there used to be a green arrow where I could disconnect the SATA drive (in the same way as for USB drives) but with the p5B-E I am not getting this anymore. Any suggestions?

i have a wd 80Gb s-ata 150 drive and i also get the green arrow but tis is no big deal. you should use a jumper on your maxtor drive to select it's interface speed (s-ata 150 or s-ata 300). initially i used my drive wit no jumper and i always ad to insert the s-ata drivers floppy disk (you should have such a disk from the mobo package if not you can probably boot the cd provided wit the mobo and create such a disk) and press F6 at the beginning of te win installation. after i selected the correct jumper setting the installation detected my s-ata disk no problem. bye bye floppy disk.

I spoke to the Asus people and they said for me to clear CMOS by reversing the battery.
This enabled me to install Windows. However, I then wanted to create another version of Windows on a non RAID SATA drive (Maxtor). The only way I could do this is by going in to BIOS and setting the IDE configuration from RAID to IDE. I now have 2 operating systems on different disks (RAID 0 [2 X Raptors] + a single Maxtor), but I have to change the BIOS each time if I want to select a different operating system. Does anybody know why this might be?
Furthermore, I have recently experienced random beep codes and crashes. Sometimes when I turn on my computer I get one long beep followed by three short ones. I can’t find what this means in my hand book.
