Hi

I have a dell XPS M1330 arriving in a few days with VISTA HOME BASIC OEM on it. it will arrive with the oem disk also.

I dont want to activate it on the laptop.

I want to move it and activate it on my desktop, on a spare hard drive.

I want to clean and install XP Pro on the laptop

I have the related XP drive for the laptop

Unless your desktop is also a Dell, I believe you're out of luck. Dell restore CDs and Dell product keys are meant to be installed only on Dell computers... don't think it will work on another OEM brand or on custom-builds.
