More Information

For the last several weeks my connection has been less than stable. My modem basically turns off for a split second (accompanied by a loud click). The connection is never down for long (it restarts right away 90% of the time) but it happens pretty frequently so it kills online gaming for me. Of course contacting the ISP just gets me the same lame advice they have for every problem unplug and replug etc., etc.,

my first thought was that it might be power related. I live in Florida with our afternoon thunderstorms and addiction to AC it's not too uncommon for the power to fluctuate somewhat. I have plugged into my UPS, but that hasn't made a difference.

The Modem is a Netopia Cayman 3300 series supplied by my ISP about 3-4 years ago.

Sounds to me like this is a problem with the netopia router. I would contact the ISP again and tell them you have a faulty router.
