I have used Norton Security applications for a while and I feel my computer(s) are slow to start-up and run. I think the Norton products have become a virus. I am considering uninstalling Norton everything and 1) Using Window XP firewall and 2) Installing AVG antivirus free.
Any comments and/or recommendations on how is the best way to break the Norton habit.
I have been told that Norton is a resource hog and a control freak and Mcafee is too. I would recommend flushing Norton and either getting AVG anti virus free edtion or getting PC-cillin. I run Vista and have AVG free edtion, no problems so far. This is just my opinion I might be wrong but I don't think I am. ( If i am wrong someone please tell me)
Agree with physx7, Norton is a resource hog, especially earlier versions. The newest one supposedly ins't as bad. ZoneAlarm has a very firewall and AVG is good. Currently I'm using BitDefender and it's doesn't seem to slow anything done but AVG on another machine. Everything that comes with Norton Security Suite you can find for free
