ok i just downloaded what i thought was ubuntu was a 690+mb size download then i burnt it to a disc and when i restarted my computer it wouldn't run linux i just loaded up xp agine. so i was wondering how do i get it on my pc and then get rid of xp.?

You have to go into your BIOS ( usually DEL, F1, F2 or F10 ) and change the boot order so that your PC will boot from CD before it tries to boot from your hard drive.

As long as your CD downloaded and was recorded correctly it should work.

kk kewl thank you i got lunix up and running but now i cant get any programs to work...=*(

Did you install it or are you trying to run programs from the Live CD?

What kind of programs are you trying to run?
