hey guys, quick question, i still have my ide 133 wd drives 7200rpm 8meg cache that i used to have raided on my last board, but now with only sata raid option on the new board, i was thinkin how effective a pci raid card would be, if even possible?
I mean how would be be able to install drivers to the pci raid card to install the OS on it while loading the OS?
Any info would help to point me in the right direction.

It would be very effective. But it depends on the card you get. The more expensive cards are hardware RAID, and they take over the drives, and as far as the OS is concerned, it is one drive. The cheaper cards do software RAID. Your CPU does the work, but again it looks like 1 drive to the OS.
