Hey guys =)

I really need some help... I have a couple of .x264 High definition 1080i files that I really wanna play, but even VLC falls over and cries when i try,....

I tried a few new codecs such as Divx, CCC codec pack, Core media player with codecs etc and they all play it like a dog!!!
VLC plays the sounds but wont play the vidieo, and the rest play at approx 20 fps and fall over occasionally. I would have thought my system could cope with it...

3.06 p4
1.5g ram
geforce 7800 GT

Im just struggling with the concept that my ******* sky box has more arsehole than my PC as it can stream HD stuff and record it!

Help me toms hardware. your my only hope.

Quite simply put, I don't think your system is up to the task of decoding 1080i x264 encoded videos. x264, as you may know, is a very complex codec and can easily bring a machine to its knees. I have a stock Opteron 170 and it can't decode x264 encoded 1080p videos, nor even 1680x1050 ones from my in-game capture.

Try CoreAVC Pro. Otherwise, I recommend upgrading your processor to a heartier Core 2 Duo or a higher end Athlon X2.
