Power supply: not sure if it 400W or 450W
Windows 2000 professional sp4
i have mildy overclocked this system to a state of FSB 150MHz 2.0x FSB:RAM ratio is at 1:1
it runs one exhaust fan at 3300RPM, a stock mobo fan, stock AMD heatsink/fan fans at 1205RPM.
the cpu temp sits at around 38.5 after an hour and 43.5 after three.
i planned to run prime 95 lastnite on an alnight torture test to make sure the setup is completely
stable but temperature started to increase rather quickly. i have bios temp alarm set at 50 degrees
as i dont want this system being hurt because i cannot afford to replace it. whats a safe temp for the
cpu to run to? can i push this setup anymore or should i back it down a step. keep in mind that i live
in new zealand so things are more expensive for me and in some cases harder to get. i am a very keen
overclocker and i am hoping to get into the computer tech profession.
P.S i have not changed any voltage setups.
im not looking to overclock it alot maybe 2-2.1ghz max. maybe you could recommend a good fsb voltage and all that setup. and a better cpu cooler (i know these wont break my bank) i mostly use the cpu for games. atm it plays warcraft 3 highest settings without a problem. i also play quake 4 but i get a few hiccups. well i used to get some i havnt run into any since i oc'd
its running on a 13x multiplyer. how exactly do i lower the cpu/ram ratio? i beleive its at 1:1
can you recommend a cooler, so i can atleast see what i am looking for and look at a price
oh yep kool. thanks for the advice. i shall give my supplier a ring tommorrow. sadly i live so far away from a city its all gota be done via interweb and phone wots a simple test to see if the psu isnt enough for my pc? the psu in my mums comp got burnt owt b4 i got computer savvy and the guy only put in a 300W it was crashing during games even when on lowest settings. just yesterday i removed a s**tload of viruses from it and im about to have a quick lan game with my bro. but is there a surefire way to test it without throwing another one in?
Ha, I have a 2200+ running at a stock 1.8... the system is not very stable any more... the proc got upto 60+ and still idles around 47 with reapplied AS5, the PSU is a hotboxx causeing the whole system to overheat, and on top of that its crazy loud..
But, becareful with that OC, they get pretty hot.. Is it a first or second revision Athlon Xp? (T-Bred A and T-Bred B) Mine is an A.. 2200+ was the top model in the first revision and they have so heat issues..
im still running the stock cpu fan, i pushed the cpu up to 1.91ghz and they temp started to sit around 45 so i backed it off to 1.8 (fsb 145) but the temps are staying up. is this normal?
I've been running a 2800+ Athlon (462) 24/7 for the last five years (12/03/2002 was when the rig was first fired up) and the CPU has always sat at 66c on average, 58c when idle and hitting 76c under load on a hot day, voltage has always been set to 1.632 & stock cooler has never been replaced although fans have been as well as PSU's.
