Here is a strange on. You turn on your PC, it starts fine and goes to the boot screen asking which XP to boot to."one is the System and the other is recovery". So you let it boot to the system and and that is all that happens. You can hear the HD for a second then nothing. Just a black screen. I can see the drive in the bios and I can read it on another PC. This happened after a storm and I was a little late unplugging the PC. I left it off until the next day and this is what i Get. I have rebooted and go to the boot screen and then it leaves there only with a black screen and no boot. I have not tried a repair yet. I have not seen this before. They usually either don't boot or get a bad disk error. What do you think. Bruce

I'd start by running the diagnostic/repair software from the hdd mfg website If there are no problems, I do a Windows repair.

Thanks, I pulled out an old xp boot disk that I had and it replaced the boot files I needed and it booted up with no problem. Thanks for the reply. Bruce
