so like the title says, i get an Access Denied warning from windows when i try to install the Windows XP Pro x64 SP2. i went on microsofts website and found this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/873148. i followed those instructions, but with no luck. and after reading that it seems that the Access Denied warning comes up because the sp2 installer doesnt have permission to write to the registry, or something along those lines. does anyone know how to fix this? is there a way to temporarily remove all permissions so that i can install this?

Why don't you just slipstream SP2 into your XP CD and then do a Repair installation?
