Uninstall keyboard without CD

My old keyboard is broken at the plug so need to install different one. It wont let me without uninstalling old one. Dont have windows 98 disc to uninstall. It is a business computer and I need to get stuff off of it Please Help

1. Unplug old keyboard.

2. Plug in new keyboard.

No CD required.

Just don't plug in the new keyboard with the computer powered on.

Oops - missed two steps out in those instructions:

0. Switch computer off.

3. Switch computer on.

If you simply need to get stuff off the hard drive, then buy a IDE to USB adapter and plug the old hard drive into the new computer. You don't need the old computer to be completely functional to transfer data to a new computer.
