Forum Windows Vista : General Discussion Why the HORRIBLE installation/boot performance??

Word :    Username :

Just installed vista home basic (64 bit) on my new pc with these parts:

-Q6600
-8800GTX
-2WD Raptors (not in RAID)
-HT Omega Striker Sound Card
-msi p6n sli platinum mobo

They are all 64 bit compatible, so I don't think they are the issue, but why then does it take almost five minutes for vista to boot up once I press the power button on my comp? Also, why did it take nearly 6 hours for windows to install 52 megabytes of windows updates? And why is my 3dmark06 score only 840? I have reinstalled the os already the drivers should all be fine...

have you checked that none of the parts are actually broken? or have they been incorrectly placed into the computer?

I think they are all right. I picked them out very carefully, and they work ok sometimes, but then after a few minutes they stop working as well. Now I can't even listen to music without it sputtering, but again, it will work for a while when I first turn on my computer. Hoping the upcoming SP1 will help out. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
