I just downloaded and burned a DVD of Fedora 8. When I try to install fedora it hangs for 10 minutes at loading "ata_piix driver" after the 10 minutes it continuse and asks where the install media is (CD, hard disk, NFS, HTTP, FTP) when I select CD it says that no device of selected type found. It then asks for either a driver disk or to select a driver from list. None of the drivers on that list seem to be the right one for me. I'm trying to install from an Asus Sata DVD drive to a 80GB WD IDE drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
System specs:
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160
Abit IP35
2GB Adata DDR2-800
ATI Radeon X1950GT
500GB Samsung Sata
80GB WD IDE
ASUS 18X SATA DVD Burner with LightScribe
Hi! Sounds like fedora automatically tried to install from the wrong device. (even though you could initially boot from it, i know, it's dumb.) You are ... (installing from a menu?) there should be something that says "source directory" and then somewhere down the line "install directory". Goto "select source directory" and it should either be in /media/dvd /media/dvd0 /media/dvd1 ...etc, OR in /dev/hda /dev/hdb /hdc... etc. It sometimes calls cdrom drives hard disks...
Does this help?
