-reboot
-booted to Vista DVD,

All what i get is:Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation!!!!!!!
I tried all what i know, i even followd MS instruction for this error and used DiskPart and nothing work. Cannot even install Vista without creating an array.
Maybe I'm misreading you, but did you load drivers at the start of the Vista installation process for that RAID controller (from another HDD or a CD/DVD)? It won't see the drive unless you do that, in most cases.
