Hey guys, my family and i were using the same old windows 98 which we then upgraded to windows XP with the upgrade disk. Now that i am getting a new computer, and my current computer will be the family's i was thinking of how to proceed. We want to buy one CD for the whole family, so we can install it on both computers, the internet will be coming from the same IP.

I'v heard Full versions of XP dont allow us to do that, and we know that because we are fed up with the "get windows Genuin" in the traybar.

Now what can be my solution.. or solution. Is Windows Vista the same? or no.. I really wanna stay with XP..

It's not the Windows XP CD, it's the XP Product Key. Each computer needs it's own unique Product Key. You can get a copy of Windows XP Home OEM from http://www.9software.com/Windows_X [...] phmoem.htm for $98.00.

It amazes me that posters will spend over $5,000.00 for computer hardware but are too cheap to buy a legal copy of Windows.

You were also supposed to do the same thing with Win 95/98/ME/2K. The reason MS invented product activation was to stop people from sharing copies of Windows amongst friends and family. Each computer now requires a unique CD key in order to be genuine.
