My Dell Dimension XPS originally came loaded with Windows 98SE and an upgrade was added to Windows 2000 Professional. I cannot find my installation CD nor do I have any clue what the Administrators Code is. After updating to SP4 off of Microsoft's Update Web Site, I got lost in a endless loop with a message that says :The procedure entry point EqualDomainSid could not be located in dynamic link library ADVAPI32.DLL. Apparently, it is happening because I did not restart the computer between updates. I researched the problem and found that I need to rename it and replace it with the copy that is in C:winnt\$ntuninstallq274172$\advapi32.dll. I made the four boot disks, but I canot gain access to repairs without either the administrator code or the installation cd. I was wondering if there was a work around for this that is not too complicated (maybe changing the code through Setup when the machine first starts? Any help is appreciated.
