has anybody managed to install the ati proprietary driver for an ati 9550 on ubuntu 7.10 and get the opengl running? i've searched the web and all that i found didn't help - i always get the mesa opengl and not opengl from the new driver install

i you have any idea how to make it work please help

Clicked the popup in 7.10 in the notification area and installed the ati driver without a single problem on a notebook.

3D works fine.

Sorry have never done it on a 9550.

9550 is included in the default ATI binary driver so it _should_ be the same..

It works on my x1900GT, but that is a *much* newer card than the 9550. IIRC, the 9500 series may not be supported on the latest drivers. Execute the following command less the quotes and tell me what you see: "dmesg | grep fglrx"

i have a 9550 and it works fine if you enable the restricted drivers use.
