I formatted a 500 gig drive and partitioned it with windows XP. I did two partitions 300/200 gigs. While I had my laptop with Vista on it I decided to hook it up via USB with an adapter I have and went to Disk management and the drive was listed with an red X. No drive or partitions. I took it back to XP to make sure and it was still there. What do you think was the problem with vista having problems with it. It is a SATA wit a special adapter. Vista loaded the drivers for the drive and said it was ready but could not read it. Bruce
